Congratulations to all thirty of our students who took part in the National Dance Championships last Friday and Saturday. Results for our students were as follows -
Lyrical/ contemporary solos 10-12yrs: Ciara Luka Ennis and Emily Connolly joint 3rd, both with dances choreographed by Jean O’ Donoghue. Aisling Hammond joint 2nd with a dance choreographed by Niamh Dinan.
Lyrical/ Contemporary solos 13-15 yrs: Tara Casey, Highly Commended and Eloïse De Sousa, 2nd place, both wit...h their own choreography.
Lyrical/Contemporary solos 16-19yrs: Gemma Godber, joint 3rd place, with her own choreography.

IDTA All Ireland's, Clane, 29th April 2018
Congratulations to all the girls who danced beautifully. We had six group ballet dances and they placed as follows: 1st place in 6-9yrs, 2nd and 3rd place in 10-12yrs, 1st place in 13-15yrs and 1st place in 16yrs-adult.
In the ballet and theatre craft singles our students won lots of gold, silver and bronze medals in the heats, with many going on to win trophies in the finals. This was some achievement as in some categories there were between one and two hundred children taking part in the heats.
The results for the finals of the ballet singles were as follows:
6-9yrs: 2nd place Emma Boon, 3rd place Amy Meaney;
10-12yrs: 1st place Taylor O'Sullivan, 2nd place Emily Connolly;
13-15yrs: 1st Áine Moynihan, 3rd Judith Egan;
16yrs-adult: 1st Gemma Godber, 2nd Ella Bliss, 3rd Ella Clayson.
In the theatre craft final Gemma Godber came 2nd in 16yrs and up and at the end of the competition was also awarded the senior overall cup. Well done everyone! Click here to see photos.

Dance Inspirations UK & Ireland Tour, Civic Theatre, 10th September 2017
A big well done to Naoise, Ciara Luka, Hannah, Áine, Tara, Ella, Eloise and Gemma who competed in the Irish heat of the Dance Inspirations Uk and Ireland tour in the Civic Theatre in Dublin on September 10th.
A special congratulations go out to Hannah Costelloe, who placed 3rd and Áine Moynihan, who placed 2nd in the ballet solo category aged 9-11years; Tara Casey who placed 3rd and Eloise DeSousa who placed 1st in the ballet solo category aged 12-14years and Gemma Godber who placed 1st in the ballet solo category aged 15-17years.

The Dinan School of Ballet had two fantastic days at the National Dance Championships 2016 in Glór Theatre, Ennis where our students almost swept the board in all categories. We were so proud of every student that took part and we know they learned so much over the course of the two days.
On Saturday, 2nd April, in the open and lyrical categories they placed as follows – Scarlett Williams, 2nd place in the open category, age 9 and under: Tara Casey and Elsa Brennan, joint Highly Commended in lyrical/contemporary age 10-12; Eloise de Sousa, 1st place in lyrical/contemporary age 10-12 and also winner of the overall junior cup; Sophie Morrissey, 2nd place in Lyrical/Contemporary age 13-15; Sarah Jane Doyle, 3rd place in lyrical/contemporary age 13-15 and Alannah Sweeney, Highly Commended in both the lyrical/contemporary and tap/jazz categories in age 16-19.
On Sunday, 3rd April, in the ballet solo category they placed as follows - Judith Egan, 3rd place and Scarlett Williams, 1st place in the ballet solo category age 9 and under; Áine Moynihan, 3rd place and Eloise de Sousa, 1st place in the ballet solo category age 10-12 years; Gemma Godber, 3rd place and Molly B Nolan, 1st place in the ballet solo category age 13-15 years; Alannah Sweeney and Nicole O’Mahony, joint 3rd place and Laoise Hurley, 2nd place in the ballet solo category age 16-19 years. Tara Casey was awarded the Ballet Ireland Summer School Scholarship.

Congratulations to Sarah Nolan on being awarded the IDTA Overseas Special Commendation Award and best wishes to her as she embarks on her further training with Ballet West in Scotland.

Congratulations to past pupil Siobhan Sexton who's been awarded the Winifred Cullis Memorial Award and Bursary. Siobhan is currently studying for a degree in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance in London.

Congratulations to Eloise de Sousa who's been nominated to take part in the Ballet Grades Category of the International Theatre Dance Awards to take part in Manchester next February. Eloise is the youngest ever Irish nominee.
